Literature Text

It doesn't seem fair
She picks the one
Who will hurt her
You start to question
If you should have
Been so gently caring
Those weren't her type

Or maybe it's you
You start to think
You weren't good enough
You know you weren't
But maybe the truth
Is far more hurtful

You begin to move on
Just as she since had
You learn the life apart
Just as she had known

You leave a part of you behind
That lives in the times you shared

There are those times
Your mind can't express
The heart knows well

So you hold on to memories
To those cherished times you shared
So you hold onto her words
Resonating straight through to your heart

Until those words are broken

It's not that they ceased to be
It's that they never were
It's not that they weren't said
It's that they were not meant
It's not that they were the truth
It's that your heart won't stop believeing

Now comes the time that you
Hoped
Now comes the time you
Prayed
Now comes the time you never wanted to
Pass

In your mind
You know the time has come
To move on

Mind proclaims to your heart
The happiness and the resolution
That it's bound to create

Your heart won't let go
To all of those memories
Those feelings that it swears
To as love's greatest memory

You know that it wasn't love
Not because you didn't love her
You know that you always had
But because she didn't love in return
Because true love is something shared
So it could never ever be
This is something that I wrote more than a year ago and it is one of the emotional things that I have ever wrote. It is for that reason, and that reason only, that I saved it. It's something that I wrote and could never re-read, from the moments after I wrote it to as I'm writing these comments. I don't like the person who wrote those words, and I'm glad that I've changed for the better, away from him. It is a poem that reflects what I was feeling at the time, hurt, sad, and angry. The entire composure has no set form with different styles through each part, which you will be able to pick up, some being more obvious than others. I wrote this poem after the only person that I have ever loved up to this point left me to be with someone else. In her defense, most of what I wrote in this poem was what I was feeling at the time and wasn't a reflection of the reasons why she had left. At her core, she is a very good person and this is something that I never wanted her to read. But should she read this, that's fine because I think that would be the best way to give closure to the person I was and move on. So, I present to you a reflection who I was. Thank you for taking the time to read it and comments are always appreciated.

Those are some strong words. It really is flowing with emotion, and I really like how you've been able to tell a difference between the person who wrote it and the person you are now, through the words (I'm sure there are other aspects that helped too but you know what I mean) :]
